Abstract
Piroxicam has been considered as a new and outstanding non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic compound and the main action is postulated to be effective through the inhibition of prostaglandin synthetase.
Authors carried out a prospective, therapeutic study upon the 52 patients suffering from osteoarthritis of spine and lower extremities with peroxicam. Average duration of treatment was 10 weeks and the dosage was 20mg per day.
The study has been taken from August 19, 1980 till December 1980 at National Medical Center.
We obtained the following results:
1. As to- efficacy of-the Piroxicam, remarkable effect is taken in slight and moderate degree of the disease taking into consideration of joint tenderness, swelling, and limitation of motion, but fair or no effect in advanced caused.
2. As to toleration, low incidence and slight degree of side effect is encountered in digestive trouble.
